Great War Commemorations

The Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall are preparing to sow a poppy crop, set to bloom as part of a dramatic one day event to mark the centenary of the First World War.

West Lawn at Heligan has been ploughed and harrowed - using heavy horses - and shortly the poppy seeds will be sown to create a blood red field stretching towards Mevagissey by the commemoration day - 3 August 2014.

Members of Kew Royal Botanic Gardens can enjoy free entry to the Lost Gardens of Heligan and go and see this spectacle for themselves in all its glory.
